Minutes

• This year each person on the board will report on their individual projects so we can keep everyone on task

Issac: President

• Building purchase: Currently working on getting an appraisal so we have some idea what a legitimate value of the building is
  • We also need to get an estimate to replacing the roof because our insurance company thinks its not great
• Fundraising: We did our best math and it seems we do not have enough saved up for a downpayment so we are discussing endlessly about the goal amount or timing
  • Thinking somewhere around $150k but we're not sure yet
  • We really want to get outside donors so we're not constantly squeezing our members for more
  • Personal endorsements would really be helpful if you all feel the need to share what Knox Makers means to you
  • Issac talked to head of MakerUSA this week and is connecting us to other spaces that have done large fundraising campaigns for tips and advise
• Small update on documentary: edit is about 50% done and they are excited how its turning out - maybe early August
• Maker Education Meetup: Daryl attended - he met a lot of new people but other than that it was pretty standard
• Maker Market: so far 45 applications for the Sept 28th market
• Hospitality zone: Margaret has decided to step down from that responsibility and Jerry has taken up the call
• Vestival emailed wanting feedback and Issac has not responded because he wasn't sure what to tell them....
• Killswitch (Larry): Thunderdome is undercover and is ready for some repairs. Larry wants to get some sparring and classes soon.
• Knox Makers Birthday Party! August 5th - Pizza! Cake-off! Party hat contest! 100% fun and 0% business!

Sue: Treasurer

• Sue doesn't want us to spend too much money on our party :(
• Everything else is as normal

Tracy: Membership Director

• 361 members
• Yay new people!

Russell: Community Director

• Russell thinks you're all marvelous!
• Newsletter draft will go out to the board today with a publish date of July 1st
  • How many people have signed up for that anyway? 63!
• Tuesday Talks and Crafts are scheduled through August - exciting times!

Jondale: Tech Director

• Big thing at the moment is gmail sucks and is blocking things
• Installed OpenProject for fundraising stuff and Jondale is using it for infrastructure migration
• Mayor's Maker Council: Planning ten year anniversary shindig (no party hat contest though)

Daryl: Communications

• Focusing less on website due to fundraising, but is working to turn his eye back toward it
  • Working on a Quickbooks or Stripe plugin - open up more options for people to give money
  • Daryl has stared too long at the new website and needs fresh eyes to look at it

Sean: Creative Director

• Sean sent out a style guide for the board to review - if we have more volunteers doing writing/social media so having a document to have people thinking in the right direction
• Sean is scheduled for July 13 to talk to Ramblin' Man podcast
• Tomfoolery! It is secret - try to guess what tomfoolery Sean has done!

Billy: Facilities

• Had air-con in Bay 2 freeze up - Billy will keep monitoring
• Billy is itching to tag some stuff but hasn't found any wayward projects

Other stuff

• Issac wrote up a more expanded version of our values and we all edited but are we all cool with them? (Thumbs up says yes)
• Next meeting July 20, 2025 - see you all there!

• Voted to appoint Jerry as the new ambassador to Hospitality - may he bless us with many snacks and caffeine
• Voted to spend up to $1000 on robot parts
