Board Meeting: April 26th, 2020
Time & Location
- Meeting Located virtually on Big Blue Button
- 2:00 PM
Attendees
Board: Issac Merkle, Jondale Stratton, Tracy Homer, Bryan Howard, Suzannah Alexander, Sean Simoneau, Sue Joslin, Billy Huddleston
Minutes
- Treasurer's report
- Not much activity since no one is doing anything
- Still coming out ahead
- Since it is so late in the month, sue shared this months totals and we're still squeaking by ahead for the month
- Membership dues are holding steady
- Big blue button report: the server is holding up pretty well - except this past Tuesday the recording was a bit raggedy
- Maybe upgrading the server would be good idea - reboot on Tuesdays
- Are members using this on their own? do we know?
- We've had couple hundred people watch on Facebook and our face shield post has been very popular
- Maybe asking people for likes and shares on our video show and share will increase our reach
- Suzannah is willing to help with the facebook things
- The virtual show and shares has been going well
- We could use a more variety of people
- Except Issac should keep sharing every week
- Voted almost unanimously to have Tracy's mom do a show and share next week
- Is it intentional that people's show and share's have gone too long? Sometimes it gets a bit out of hand but how do we deal with that?
- We can remind people or rely on the moderator to move things along
- Suzannah has a mystery snail that is behind her and she showed us all on camera
- Sean's cat is loud
- We took a small break to talk about pet snails
- As far as the building building - there has been no work on it so the roof is half done and people are antsy to start working on it
- Hopefully as soon as the stay at home order expires, we will get back at it
- There should be a press conference tomorrow in Knoxville about guidelines for reopening the city
- Billy just joined and his hair is amazing
- If the mayor reopens everything - we pretty much agree that we would reopen for members only but not have public events quite yet
- Do we require people to use masks in the shop?
- That brings up the issue of enforcement.
- Maybe we'd get more buy-in if we "strongly encourage" instead of enforce.
- We should put it upon ourselves to make sure soap and paper towels are available for members.
- Can we amass a small stockpile of cloth masks that we can make available to our members?
- Yes we probably can.
- We should be prepared to to send a member email as soon as we get word about the press conference.
- How can we better promote Knox Makers through this?
- We could ask people who have worked on things to shoot small videos of themselves working on things and sending it public.
Votes
- Voted unanimously to strongly encourage members to wear masks while in the shop, for when we reopen to members.
